Attention High School Chemistry Students in the Des Moines Area:
The Smith Group is looking for motivated, computer-savvy high school students who aspire to have a career in chemistry, especially analytical chemistry. Opportunities are available for Summer 2012 research. Hours are flexible to Summer activities. An example of previously conducted research of High School students working in the Smith group is shown below.

The Ames Laboratory/Iowa State University Science Bowl
At the Ames Laboratory/Iowa State University Science Bowl, high school students from Iowa test their science knowledge in the annual Regional Science Bowl. In the fast-paced, quiz-bowl style matches, students answer questions from categories, including astronomy, biology, physics, chemistry, earth science, general science and current events in the scientific and technical community.
